Year 13 A-Level Results 2023

Congratulations to the King’s leavers who performed so well in their A Levels this year, surpassing the 2018 and 2019 results. 64 pupils achieved at least 3 A or A* grades and 11 were awarded three or four straight A* grades.

Over 150 of our students have confirmed places at their first-choice university this year, and 80% have places at their first or second-choice university.

More than 100 King’s leavers this year have places at Russell Group universities. 10 pupils hold offers at US universities.

11 King’s pupils were offered places at Oxford and Cambridge, seven at Imperial College, London, and six at St Andrews University.

In terms of offers accepted, the most popular university choices for this cohort were: Durham (23 offers), Bristol (21), Exeter (19), UCL (19), and Edinburgh (17).

There were over 75 offers made this year from university colleges within the University of London.

Liz Worthington, Interim Head, said: “We are very proud of our leavers who have worked so hard to achieve these results. They have done incredibly well, especially when you consider that their education was severely disrupted by COVID-19. They leave us as delightful, well-rounded young adults, ready for the world and the opportunities the future brings. I would like to thank our excellent teachers who have inspired and supported these pupils on their academic journey, as well as our support staff who make the King’s experience so special.”

If any of our leavers or parents need advice or guidance, our Sixth Form team will be able to help.

Year 11 GCSEs/IGCSEs Results 2023

Congratulations to our fifth form pupils who achieved a very impressive set of GCSE results in 2023. These results were even stronger than our 2022 results, countering the national grade deflation.

  • Excellent GCSE results. 88% of grades awarded to pupils at King’s were grades 9, 8, 7 and 6 (equivalent to A*s, As and Bs).
  • Over 50% of grades were grade 9 or 8 (equivalent to the former A*).
  • 74% of grades were grades 9, 8 or 7 (equivalent to A*s and As).
  • 28% of grades were at grade 9 level, with 13 pupils securing a clean sweep of 9s, including 2 pupils who were awarded a remarkable 12 grade 9s each.

Jude Lowson, incoming Head at The King’s School Canterbury, said:

“I offer my heartfelt congratulations to our GCSE students on these excellent results. In the face of a national picture of declining numbers of top grades and more challenging grade boundaries, King’s pupils have bucked the trend, outstripping the results of 2022 and previous records for the School; a remarkable achievement. I am delighted that their hard work and dedication has paid off.  As I join the School in September I am looking forward to getting to know this talented cohort as they embark on their A-level studies next year – they have a bright future ahead of them”.

We are also celebrating strong GCSE results in our International College which specifically caters for overseas pupils who need to improve their English language skills before entering the British education system. Some of our students achieved fantastic grades after a one year, fast-track GCSE course, including two pupils who were awarded 9 A*s.
