Physical Education
Physical Education lessons take place at the Recreation Centre, where the facilities include a 25 metre swimming pool, fitness suite, large sports hall, cricket lanes, four squash courts and a dance/spinning studio.
Pupils in the Shell year experience one academic PE lesson per week, which is in addition to their normal Games programme. Activities taught include gymnastics, badminton, basketball, squash, volleyball, swimming, water polo, spinning and pilates.
GCSE and A-Level and BTEC courses embrace the theory of anatomy, physiology, skill acquisition, sports psychology, and the socio-cultural factors that determine sporting success. Pupils also have to complete practical elements in their chosen activity.
