The School
The King's School, Canterbury is an independent, co-educational secondary school. There are currently 814 pupils on the school roll, of whom 604 are boarders. They are organised in 15 houses: 6 boys’ boarding houses, 6 girls’ boarding houses and 3 day houses. Junior King's (JKS), the prep school of King’s has 401 pupils and is in Sturry, 3 miles from Canterbury.
The School has a long and distinguished History, and it is also one of the oldest charities in the country, providing scholarships and bursaries to pupils and organising a Charity of the Term.
The School is fortunate in its magnificent setting, and the School Tour provides a guide to the buildings, which are mostly in the Cathedral Precincts and at the St Augustine’s site.
The Academic side of the School is central, and exam results are excellent. Extra-curricular activities are also important, particularly sport, music and drama. Through the house system, the chaplaincy and in other ways, the School pays particular attention to Pastoral Care.
The School has a flourishing alumni organisation, the OKS Association, closely linked to the King's Foundation. The King's Society is for parents and friends of the School.
