The Shirley Hall

The Shirley Hall

The Shirley Hall, named after Canon John ‘Fred’ Shirley, Headmaster from 1935 to 1962, is the School's main meeting place. It was built on the site of the tennis courts and opened by the Queen Mother in 1957. Assemblies, plays, concerts and public examinations all take place here.

Underneath the Hall is the Pupils’ Social Centre. Facilities include a shop, snack and drinks bar, pool and table football, as well as the Junior Common Room (JCR), which any pupil 17 or over can join.
