The Mint Yard, named after a short-lived sixteenth century royal mint, is a mixed quadrangle of departmental classrooms, laboratories, day and boarding houses. It also provides a stunning location for the annual King’s Week School Play. From the mid-sixteenth to the early twentieth centuries, the School was almost entirely located in the Mint Yard.
The Mint Yard Gate is the main entrance to the School. The roadway then leads towards the Green Court Gate, with Mitchinson's on the left and the Grange on the right. In the Mint Yard itself, School House is at the far end, with (clockwise) Galpin's, Mitchinson's and the Parry Block making up the other sides of the quadrangle.
