King's Week Highlights 20092nd September 2009
King's Week 2009 was as popular as ever.
Dramatic highlights included a hilarious Knight of the Burning Pestle in the Mint Yard, as well as Blood Wedding, Antigone and Sparkleshark.
There was music for all tastes, from jazz to Simon and Garfunkel, from the big band to solo performers, from choirs to chamber groups. The weather held off for the Serenade in the Cloisters, and the Week was rounded off with the Symphony Concert.
The King's Week Restaurant, run by OKS Mark Gilchrist, was a new venture, providing sustenance in a quiet setting, while the literary tours and the art exhibitions provided food for the mind. Sporting events included OKS fencing (for the 80th anniversary of the club) and several centuries were scored at the cricket on Birley's.
