Health Care

The well-equipped Health Centre, containing consultation rooms, a kitchen and en-suite bedrooms should a pupil need to stay overnight, is run by a team of fully qualified nursing sisters. It provides continuous 24-hour cover throughout the term.

The nursing team are supported by two GPs from a Canterbury general practice surgery, with two GP clinics held at the Health Centre each week of the term. Additional appointments are available at the Surgery if required.

Matrons are attached to each House. They have a pastoral role as well as dealing with routine health care. ‘Twilight’ and ‘Night Matrons’ are available where there is not a residential matron.

Four qualified counsellors, one male and three female, with specialist experience in teenage issues, are available to all pupils through a confidential appointments system. All pupils are made aware of how they can access the counselling facility.

The School has a First Aid Policy, and all students as well as 80 per cent of staff are trained in first aid and basic life support.
