Head

Jude Lowson joined us in Autumn 2023 and brings with her a wide range of experience from both co-educational and single-sex day and boarding schools, including King’s College School, Wimbledon and Putney High GDST. Growing up in Belgium, she was educated at Sevenoaks School and the University of Cambridge, where she gained a Masters in History and a Diploma in Management Studies. She then worked as a strategist in one of the UK’s leading advertising agencies before beginning her teaching career at Whitgift School in Croydon. Ms Lowson is married and her daughter attends Junior King’s. In her spare time, she is a novice saxophonist and enjoys cycling and running along the many beautiful routes in the Kent countryside around Canterbury.

Interim Head

Mark Brotherton is the interim Head at Junior Kings, filling the gap between Emma Károlyi’s departure for a new Headship and the arrival of Mr Tom Morgan in January 2025.

He has been an educationalist for over 30 years during which time he was Head of Giggleswick Prep School, Executive Head of Malsis Prep School, and interim Head of Repton Prep School. During the last eight years, Mark was the Director of Education Services at IAPS, a global schools organisation where he regularly advised schools on strategic, financial and educational matters.

Mr Brotherton has served on many boards including Chairman of IAPS, Vice Chairman of the Independent Schools Teachers’ Induction panel, the Independent Schools Council, the IAPS Consultancy as well as numerous committees including the Independent Schools Examinations Board Education Committee.

Currently, Mark is a member of the Advisory Board of Superkind, an organisation promoting social action and philanthropy in schools, and a Council member for SATIPS – a professional support body for teachers and teaching assistants in independent schools across the UK and globally.

Joint Principals

Jo and Bill Prior studied together at Oxford University and have also lived, studied and worked in France, Germany, China, South Korea and Scotland. In recent years they returned to work in boarding schools in Scotland. At the International College, they bring together their knowledge of British boarding education with their experience of working with international students, aiming to give them a soft landing in the UK.
