Danish hygge
Has the ancient foundation of The King’s School, Canterbury something to learn from the current popularity of Danish hygge?
We have two pupils who play rugby for the Danish youth XV and I have convinced Andy Snook, our charismatic Head of Catering, to put Viking porridge on the breakfast menu and herring rollmops as an option for Sunday brunch!
Given our fame for a cosy, relaxed and very social atmosphere at the heart of the community life here at King’s – this should be right up ‘our street’. After all, we are about to open our own coffee bar (to be called ‘Chums’) in the basement of Shirley Hall.
