A New Day House

A new state-of-the-art Day House

In recent years we have seen a significant increase in demand for day places at King’s, driven by our growing reputation and the desire of families to access a world-class education within their local community. To meet this demand we are creating a new day house, which will serve as a stimulating and nurturing environment for 65 pupils across all age groups.

Our vision is to convert the former Jolly Sailor public house, located on the outskirts of the School grounds, into a vibrant and welcoming day house. This unique facility will blend the historic charm of its original structure with modern amenities, creating an ideal environment for our day pupils. The house will feature spacious study areas, communal spaces for relaxation and socialisation, and all the necessary facilities to support our pupils’ holistic development.

“The common thread between all the Houses is the desire to create a Home from Home.”

To support the increase in day provision, King’s will be introducing new bus services, serving local areas and providing direct connections to both Junior King’s and the Senior School.

The King’s School have appointed Vectare, a specialist school transport management company who are responsible for over 2.5 million independent school journeys a year, to manage the school bus service.

Talk Education

Co-curricular opportunities

It is not only academic excellence that differentiates King’s, but the way in which we enable skills and achievements outside the curriculum.

We include dedicated co-curricular activity sessions in every pupil’s timetable, providing them with the opportunity to explore their talents or discover completely new ones. They blossom as individuals from this, which in turn drives their academic progress.

The range of activities is vast; from Rugby, Hockey and Fencing to Cryptic Crossword Club and Creative Writing Classes. Inspiring educational experiences also take place throughout the year, such as Economics trips to New York and Politics tours of the Houses of Parliament. We partner with The Combined Cadet Force and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme to foster pupils’ leadership and collaboration skills, while our Running Wild team is just one of the many ways they help the local community. We also have an enviable and highly diverse line-up of visiting speakers – many of them eminent, high-profile experts – whose life stories and insights impassion the pupils and deepen their knowledge of the wider world.
