A village school on another level
Head just 2 miles from the centre of Canterbury to the village of Sturry, and on a green, 80-acre site by the banks of the River Stour you will find Junior King’s.
Originally a Manor House gifted to the School, Junior King’s is home to our Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep School. The Nursery and Pre-Prep have their own separate buildings; a beautiful wooden barn for the Nursery and a traditional Kentish Oast House building for the Pre-Prep. The Prep School features a Boarding House with two floors for boys and girls, and an ancient Tithe Barn dating from 1580 – used for Drama, assemblies, orchestra and choir practice, plays, and concerts. A dedicated Music School was also opened here in 2016.
“The school and surroundings are steeped in history yet the school prides itself on its swish facilities and innovative teaching yet still no room for complacency as there are continual plans to update and evolve the school. You will be hard-stretched to find a school with better facilities in the local area.”
Muddy Stilettos
Junior King’s is spoilt for outside, active space – with a ‘mini-forest’, playing fields, Astroturf pitches and a sports hall. The beautiful Kentish countryside is also never more than a short walk away.
Senior School
Our Senior School has many traditions, but standing still isn’t one of them.
