Sixth Form army cadets recently participated in a rigorous three-day military exercise designed to test and enhance their leadership, resilience, and problem-solving skills under pressure.

A series of tactical scenarios tested the cadets’ ability to think and lead under pressure, using blank ammunition to storm a series of simulated enemy positions. There was also the opportunity to plan and execute an ambush on an enemy logistics hub, with the enemy played by soldiers from the Royal Logistics Corps.

Another key component was a first aid scenario involving a downed helicopter. Cadets were tasked with providing immediate first aid assistance to simulated casualties resulting from the crash. This scenario emphasised the importance of quick thinking and effective teamwork in life-threatening situations.

The three-day exercise concluded with a debriefing session, where cadets received feedback on their performance and reflected on ways to develop their skills further. The experience not only enhanced their abilities but also fostered a sense of camaraderie, teamwork, and achievement among the Sixth Formers.

Major Goddard, who oversaw the exercise, praised the cadets: “As the cadets return to school, they carry with them valuable lessons learned from this intense and immersive exercise. Resilient, adaptable, and ready to take the lead, they are prepared to face any challenges that come their way!”
