A week of fun, adventure, and challenge was enjoyed by cadets at this year’s Army Cadets Summer Camp. This year’s camp focused on developing leadership, teamwork, and resilience among cadets in the Shell year group and above.
The cadets stayed in shelters they built themselves, learning tactics such as reconnaissance patrols, ambushes, and section attacks. They practised navigation and first aid, skills taught in their weekly school training. Their abilities were tested in a realistic casualty simulation, which involved rescuing a vehicle stuck in a minefield.
Additionally, the cadets learned to operate in buildings with a simulated attack on a Napoleonic coastal fortress. The camp also included a day-long canoeing expedition down the River Stour and a challenging escape room experience. Hosted across various military training areas in the Kent, Sussex, and Hampshire countryside, the camp provided diverse training environments.
The camp concluded with a South African-style barbecue and the presentation of the cadets’ qualification badges, marking the end of an enriching and memorable experience.
