This term, the Harvey Science Society has welcomed back speakers from our extended OKS community.
Dr Jonathan Allday (previous Head of Science and Physics teacher) returned in November to discuss how movies have portrayed science, particularly physics, on the big and small screen. Students, from Shells to 6a, were treated to a historical journey from early SciFi classic films all the way through to the most recent blockbusters of Tenet and Interstellar.
We welcomed back Professor Sarah Gurr (OKS) in December. She spoke about how her journey into studying fungi was fostered during her time at King’s and beyond, the variety and usefulness of fungi, as well as their impacts on the current challenges surrounding food security. This was interspersed with a few anecdotes about her time in School House and the enduring friendships she has made.
