Junior King’s has enjoyed another exceptionally busy and uplifting week, with much to celebrate across the school community.

Bright sunshine created the perfect setting for last week’s highly successful Open Morning and showcased the school at its very best. Current parents warmly engaged with prospective families and shared genuine insights into life at Junior King’s. Their enthusiasm and support helped create a welcoming and authentic atmosphere. Pupil guides stood out as the true stars of the event. Not only did they speak with confidence, warmth and genuine pride, leaving a lasting impression on visitors. The school community takes great pride in how articulately they represent Junior King’s.

Meanwhile, boarders embraced the much-anticipated “Big Camp Out” on the school fields. They worked together to set up their tents, demonstrating resilience and problem-solving along the way. The experience allowed them to fully immerse themselves in outdoor life. The evening campfire with Mother Lucy provided a special highlight. Pupils gathered in the “forest” setting, where they reflected together and enjoyed a calm, thoughtful atmosphere. Many relished toasting marshmallows, although a few may have left them in the flames a little too long.

On Tuesday, the school welcomed a guest speaker who delivered engaging online safety workshops for pupils and parents. The sessions addressed both the opportunities and challenges of the digital world and provided practical strategies to help families stay safe online. Pupils and parents responded very positively to the guidance shared.

During the week, the Interim Head met with several new pupils to discuss their first four weeks at Junior King’s. The conversation revealed encouraging insights into their experiences. These pupils showed courage and resilience as they joined the school in the final term. They spoke positively about the quality of food, the level of academic challenge, the strong support from teachers, and the wide range of afternoon activities.

Looking ahead, boarders will take part in their annual sponsored walk, raising funds for ‘Every Child I Wish’, a charity established by one of the boarding families. The school looks forward to supporting them in this important effort.
