The school community returned with energy and enthusiasm on Monday following the half-term break. Everyone embraced the bright weather, and as a result, the final four weeks of term now promise a full schedule of engaging events and activities.

To begin the week, Year 7 pupils connected online with their peers at King’s Shenzhen. Both groups prepared podcasts that shared insights into daily school life, which then created a meaningful opportunity for discussion and cultural exchange. The pupils showed confidence and curiosity throughout the session, while Mr McKeating led the organisation of this successful collaboration.

Year 6 pupils took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to Monkton Nature Reserve. During the trip, they explored the environment and applied their scientific knowledge through hands-on activities. This experience allowed them to strengthen their investigative skills while enjoying the natural surroundings.

Year 8 pupils completed their final examinations. They approached the assessments with focus and determination, demonstrating the strong academic progress they have achieved. Consequently, they can now enjoy their final weeks at Junior King’s with a sense of accomplishment.

To mark the end of the Year 8 exams, the school gathered for a whole-school barbecue. Pupils relished the relaxed atmosphere, and lunch in the orchard offered a refreshing change to the usual routine. In addition, Year 7 pupils stepped forward during House Meetings to campaign for the role of House Captain. Each candidate spoke confidently about their ideas and leadership qualities, aiming to represent their respective houses; Keas, Cockas, Kakas or Macaws.

Looking ahead, the school anticipates another highlight with the annual Sports Dinner on Saturday evening, celebrating sporting achievements across the community. Furthermore, swimmers will represent the school at the IAPS Swimming Finals this weekend, and they carry the full support and encouragement of the school as they compete.
