Junior King’s Week began with energy and enthusiasm as pupils returned for the first full week of term. Classrooms felt lively throughout the week, and teachers saw pupils engage confidently with new discussions, topics, and activities.

On Monday, all pupil committees met to share their goals and ideas for the term. These meetings give pupils a strong voice in shaping school life. The Catering Committee offered helpful feedback on dining experiences, which staff found valuable.

Several Year 8 pupils took part in a work review later in the week. They spoke about why they chose each piece and reflected on their progress. Many enjoyed returning to earlier memories by showing their work to teachers who taught them in Years 1, 2, and 3.

Sport played a major part in the week. Wednesday saw a full programme of netball fixtures. One parent described the scene of so many pupils playing as “fantastic”. At the same time, the U13 Rugby team secured a close and determined win.

Scholarship candidates performed in a series of lunchtime concerts, which offered excellent preparation for their assessments. The community now looks forward to Monday’s Senior Musicians’ Concert, a highlight of the term.

The boarding community continued to thrive. Several pupils tried flexi‑boarding for the first time and settled in very well. Boarding House meetings on Wednesday brought pupils and staff together to share ideas and suggestions, and the discussions showed the strength of the community.

Towards the end of the week, Drama Excellence pupils travelled to the West End to see Hamilton. They enjoyed an inspiring performance and returned full of excitement. Mrs Banks and the supporting staff received warm thanks for organising and accompanying the trip.
