Lace up your trainers and prepare to run through one of the most historic and picturesque cities in the UK — the King’s Mile 2025 is back, and it promises to be a highlight of Canterbury’s summer events calendar. Book your tickets for this incredible event on 29 June 2025 here!

Taking place in the heart of the city, this unique one-mile route begins in the beautiful surroundings of Green Court, tucked within the Northside of Canterbury Cathedral Precincts. From there, participants will wind their way through the vibrant King’s Mile, past the Marlowe Theatre, through the bustling city centre, and finally back into the Cathedral grounds to cross the finish line with the majestic Cathedral as a breathtaking backdrop.

Whether you’re a competitive runner or simply looking to enjoy a memorable walk through the city with friends and family, the event has a wave for you:

  • Elite Mile – For top runners looking to compete at pace
  • Mass Running Mile – A timed mile for recreational runners
  • Family & Friends Mile – A relaxed participation wave open to all (minimum age 11, or younger if walking with an adult)

Each wave is chip-timed using the latest technology, with results posted live on the event website the moment you cross the line.

Awards will be presented to:

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female finishers
  • 1st place male and female in VET40, VET50, and VET60 categories

Whether you’re racing for a prize or running for fun, everyone who takes part helps make a difference.

Your entry directly supports Catching Lives Canterbury and the Social Justice Network, two charities that aim to tackle homelessness, poverty, mental health issues, and social exclusion in the local area. By taking part, you’re helping fund essential services. This can include food and laundry facilities to support for housing and wellbeing.

Once you’ve crossed the finish line, head back to Green Court for post-race refreshments and browse a selection of stalls. Or take the opportunity to explore the very city you’ve just run through — with its independent shops, charming cafés, and historic landmarks all within easy reach.
