The Middle School production of Matilda was out of this world. The inspiring story of an extraordinary young girl who despite the challenges she faces, uses her personal strengths to be a force for good in the world evoked many of our values here at Junior King’s: resilience, responsibility, readiness and respect.
Our Middle School pupils embodied all these values while creating this production remaining motivated, involved and engaged throughout the last few months of rehearsals, with every pupil having their moment to shine. The children even became experts in moving desks, singing while swinging, vaulting and working as a focused team to achieve incredibly complex effects.
Ms Banks, our inspirational Head of Drama, brought inclusivity to the production with every pupil from Years 5 and 6 having a role to play on stage or working behind the scenes. Ms Banks said, “They have worked so very hard with an energy, care and enthusiasm that is inspiring. They have been brave, considerate and have made together an excellent ensemble company”.
Matilda was a true celebration of our excellence in the Creative Arts at Junior King’s, and the whole cast brought so much pleasure and joy to everyone present.
