The Governors are delighted to announce that the new Head of the Junior King’s School will be Tom Morgan, who is currently Head of King’s Rochester Preparatory School.  He will replace Emma Károlyi, who is moving to St George’s School, Windsor and will join the School in January 2025.

Tom has over 20 years’ experience of senior positions in highly regarded co-educational boarding prep. schools. At Rochester, and before then as Deputy Head of The Prebendal School in Chichester, he has served in schools that are intertwined, as we are, with their cathedrals.  In his various roles he has reinvigorated the academic curriculum, co-curricular activity and pastoral provision, guided by a belief that ‘innovation and breadth’ should be the hallmark of an outstanding independent education.

Tom’s academic career began with a BMus from the Royal College of Music, but he ranges widely: he has taught English and Mathematics and has headed departments of English, Drama and Computing.  From his time as a Housemaster he knows the practicalities of boarding; and at Rochester he has worked particularly closely with the Senior School to smooth students’ progression from the Prep.

We are delighted to have found a candidate who is so pre-tuned to the King’s Canterbury ethos, and we are very confident that he will continue to develop Junior King’s in that spirit.  Most importantly of all, he brings with him enormous warmth, energy and enthusiasm for the role, and a deep-rooted commitment to ensuring that our pupils’ school years are filled with joy, wonder, exploration and fun.
