This term, the Year 11 IGCSE Global Perspectives pupils at The King’s School International College have been working on their Team Projects, focusing on local issues and developing solutions together.
As part of this work, they collaborated with Mike Sole, a member of the Cabinet of Canterbury City Council. The project concluded with three groups, accompanied by Mr Kadinopoulos, presenting their ideas at the Council’s monthly meeting at the Canterbury Guildhall.
Leah spoke about improving security and the environment along the river path. Seci presented solutions for solid waste disposal, and Amy shared her group’s proposals to reduce the environmental impact of housing development. All three spoke confidently and clearly, supported by their teams.
The councillors praised the presentations, with Councillor Sole commenting that the speakers were confident and well prepared and that their research was accurate and in-depth. One Cabinet member committed to reviewing the issues further, while another offered to work more closely with the International College on environmental matters.
The International College would like to thank Councillor Sole, Canterbury City Council under Chair Alan Baldock, and Lauren for their support and organisation. This was an excellent example of youth advocacy and a memorable experience for all involved.
