Congratulations to all of our Year 11 pupils on their outstanding 2024 GCSE results today.
This year has seen remarkable achievements across all 29 subjects – a testament to our pupils’ hard work, resilience and enthusiasm, as well as to the dedication and support of their teachers and families.
Results at the top end are particularly impressive, with over half of the year achieving five grade 8 or 9s (A* equivalent grades).
31.6% of grades were at grade 9 level – with grade 9 being the most common grade across all results.
53.5% of grades were at grade 8 or grade 9 level (equivalent to A*)
Both of these are record results for the school. 22 pupils achieved at least 9 grade 9s, with eleven gaining 10 grade 9s and four pupils an outstanding 11 grade 9s.
Jude Lowson, Head of the King’s School, commented:
“I am extremely proud of all our pupils who have received their GCSE results today. They should be delighted with their achievements, which reflect their hard work and determination. Pupils have achieved these results alongside a plethora of other activities this year. Our teachers have worked incredibly hard to support them every step of the way, and pupils in this cohort have also encouraged and supported one another – and it is a joy to see this individual and collective success. These results give them a fantastic springboard into the Sixth Form where they will be able to embark on what we understand to be the widest range of options of any school, and where I look forward to seeing them continue to flourish.”
We understand that some pupils may need further support and guidance following receipt of results (for example considering subject choices, or reviews of marking) and are encouraged to make contact with school so that we are able to assist – we are here to help.
