On Monday night, the IC welcomed Liberal Democrat Councillor Mike Sole to speak to the Year 11s at the first of their Monday night talks aimed at academic enrichment. During Mike Sole’s speech, we learned why local politics matter and how they affect our daily lives.

He explained the different levels of local government services such as district, county, town, and parish councils, and how local elections work. We also discussed the duties of a council including dealing with everyday issues like potholes. His talk showed us how local government has a real impact on the community.
