On Thursday 8 May, 14 pupils from The King’s School Canterbury attended the 2025 International Chinese Language Day UK Event at Royal Mint Court in London.
Hosted to celebrate the richness of Chinese language and culture, the event offered a wide range of engaging activities, interactive workshops, and live cultural performances. Pupils had the opportunity to take part in a variety of traditional arts, including Tang poetry printing and ink and brush calligraphy.
They also explored virtual reality experiences of China’s historical landmarks, providing an immersive insight into the country’s heritage. In addition, the group participated in practical sessions in Chinese martial arts and traditional dance, gaining hands-on experience of cultural practices that date back centuries.
The event gave pupils a chance to engage directly with different aspects of Chinese civilisation and come away with a deeper appreciation for the language and its cultural context. They also took home several handcrafted items created during the workshops — a lasting reminder of a memorable and enriching day.
