We were treated to a spectacular feast of piano playing yesterday evening, when distinguished pianist and teacher, Eva Doroszkowska, came to adjudicate our biennial Piano Competition.
A warmly supportive audience enjoyed the sonorous effects of countless hours of practice, as pianists from Shell to 6b presented astonishing performances, ranging from crisp Haydn and lyrical Grainger, to shimmering Ravel and expressive Chopin.
Congratulations to Sam (GL), who took the cup with a charismatic rendition of Tippett’s fiendish Piano Sonata No. 2.
