King’s cadet, Noah has recently returned from Exercise SOLENT CHALLENGE, a weeklong army sailing expedition, navigating two ferocious storms and sailing through some very high seas.
Departing from Newcastle, the team sailed through the North Sea and across the Channel to France before returning to end their journey in Portsmouth, docking next to the Royal Navy’s aircraft carriers.
Noah lived and worked aboard the 72 ft racing yacht for the duration of the week, helping to crew the vessel in two watches day and night.
Jointly organised by the Army Cadets and the Tall Ships Youth Trust, the expedition was designed to explore the ocean environment while developing the leadership, independence and resilience of the cadet crew. Cultural visits in short harbour stops included a RNLI lifeboat station, a French navy submarine and breakfast from a French bakery.
