Thames Ditton Regatta
King’s rowers travelled to Kingston to row at the Thames Ditton Regatta. The Senior girls’ Four of Minya Kearley (KD), Tash Southorn (JR), Josie Patterson (LX), Cissy Williamson (MT), coxed by Cici Zhao (JR) beat Canford in their semi-final despite the crew of the opposition steering into them. They then went on to beat a strong Maidstone crew in the final and won the Women’s 4 Plate for the event.
The Shell and Remove boys’ doubles raced well and gained some steering experience but lost out to stronger opposition. The Shell girls’ octuple gained further valuable experience despite losing out to a very good William Perkins crew. They then moved into the plate event, making the final but losing in a close race to Wimbledon High School.
The weekend proved to be great racing experience for the seniors before the National Schools’ Regatta, where schools across the UK will compete against one another.
