6b golfers feature in Home Nations South East final

Two of the school’s top golfers, Charlie Cook (Marlowe, 6b) and Christy Francis (Linacre, 6b), represented Canterbury Golf Club in the South East final of the Junior Team Golf Home Nations Championship.

A place in the national final, which is being televised on Sky Sports, was up for grabs but on a blustery, showery day at Faversham Golf Club, the team of six came up just short.

Along with Captain of Girls’ Hockey, Grace Francis (Walpole, 6a), Charlie and Christy were part of the Canterbury side that won the East Kent League this summer.

Victory in the play-off that followed earned them their spot in the regional final where they took on the  best of London and the Home Counties.

All three King’s players involved in the run of success deserve huge credit, and have gained some invaluable additional experience which can only help the school golf team as it fights to maintain its unbeaten start to the term.

The next competitive fixture is the second round of the ISGA Matchplay in which we host Sutton Valence at the 2020 Open Championship venue Royal St George’s Golf Club on Thursday.
