A ‘Real’ experience for King’s footballers
During the Christmas holidays, thirty-six boys attended a five-day preseason football tour in Madrid, training at the Real Madrid academy. The trip included touring the Bernabeu, watching a La Liga fixture at the brand new Athletico Madrid stadium and playing local opposition. Conditions were variable to say the least, including frost, snow and persistent rain, but the boys trained hard and performed creditably against Rayo Alcobendas and Sporting Hortaleza, winning three of the four fixtures. On the last day, a few members of the group had the chance to meet the club President and the 1st team squad. The boys were great value and wonderful ambassadors throughout the tour.
