‘All’s Well That Ends Well’

The 2016 King’s Week will certainly be one to remember; packed to the brim with talent, excitement, energy and fun!

We have seen incredible plays including Romeo & Juliet, Prince of Denmark and Oedipus Rex, enchanting concerts such as Jazz on a Summer Sunset, Virtuosi and The Serenade and an array of lectures, tours, challenges and feasts!

I am sure that everyone who attended King’s Week this year will have a favourite moment to share. One of the highlights included the Science department releasing helium balloons during their last Lab on the Lawn session. Cards were attached to the bright, yellow balloons as they floated into the sky. On Wednesday morning, we received email notification that one of these balloons had landed in Belgium and been found in a field!

The Speedy Car Challenge at Birley’s Playing Field was one of great enthusiasm and provided an exhilarating afternoon of high-powered racing.

My highlights had to be the beautiful and breath-taking Serenade on the Friday evening, performed in the Cathedral Cloisters under a setting sun, and the fantastically energetic ABBA performance at St. Augustine’s on the final day of King’s Week. Although the Gala Symphony would be the last performance of King’s Week 2016, the King’s Week band presented an afternoon of all the ABBA hits from Mama Mia to an encore of Dancing Queen. The audience were all on their feet by the end and the pupils in the band gave a confident, lively and impressive performance – Janie Henderson (Website Editor)

A fantastic end to the academic year. From everyone at King’s, we wish our leaving pupils the best of luck with their bright futures!
