Carlyon & Luxmoore win Inter-House Cross Country

Carlyon and Luxmoore took home the Boys’ and Girls Cross Country Cups respectively in another competitively fought Inter-House Cross Country competition.

Face-painting, chanting and running grit have become the trademark of this event which always takes place at the start of the Autumn Term to bring new and returning pupils together in a celebration of House spirit.

Last Wednesday’s competition was no exception, with an electric atmosphere at Birley’s Playing Fields.

The two main Cups are awarded to the best aggregate House performance. Luxmoore also picked up the Intermediate Girls’ and Senior Girls’ Cup, while Kingsdown took the Junior Girls’ Cup.

In the Boys’ races, Carlyon won both the Junior and Senior competitions with Mitchinson’s taking the Intermediate Cup.

The fastest times of the day came from Sam Newson (Carlyon, 6a) and Lucy Procter (Jervis, 6a), who ran the 2.5km course in 8:21 and 9:16 respectively.
