Classicists meet Cambridge Students on ‘Oedipus at Colonus’ trip
Our GCSE and A Level Greek students attended a Cambridge University production of Oedipus at Colonus on Wednesday, and chatted to current undergraduates about collegiate life and the UCAS application process.
Following a Pater Society talk about the play from Head of Classics Janet Taylor earlier this term, pupils had the opportunity to see it performed in the original Greek.
The play tells the story of the mythical Oedipus’ death and the way a polluted man brings blessings and purification to Athens because the city offers him sanctuary.
As well as enjoying the production, pupils had the chance to see Queen’s College and Selwyn College before speaking to current students about their experiences.
The group also caught up with several OKS who all commented how much they were enjoying their courses.
