Debate at the House of Commons
On Friday 10th November, Freddy Waters (6A Mitchinson’s House) was one of eight MYPs representing Kent in a debate in the House of Commons chaired by Rt Hon John Bercow MP in the National Youth Parliament. Kent MYPs were elected by the Kent Youth County Council in February this year. On the back of the nationwide Make Your Mark campaign, 954766 eleven to eighteen year olds voted for five potential campaigns for debate: votes at 16, improvement of transport, LGBT+ rights, work experience hubs, Curriculum for Life. After over three hours of debating, MYPs voted overwhelmingly for votes at 16 and Curriculum for Life to be the 2018 campaigns. To see this debate follow this link.
