Fraser & Ben win LSE Schools Debating Competition
Our senior pair of Fraser McConachie (Linacre, 6b) and Ben Helme (Galpin’s, 6a) won the prestigious LSE Schools Debating Competition on Saturday.
The fixture is a key event in the UK Schools Debating Calendar and is attended by some of the top schools in the country.
Remarkably, Fraser and Ben won all of the four opening rounds before securing victory in the Gold Final Debate.
Both also placed extremely well in the individual competition, with Fraser coming third and Ben sixth out of 196 speakers while Hannah Edwards also finished third out of 50 novices.
Their success follows our highly competitive Inter-House Debating Competition last Thursday, so it’s been a great few days for debating at King’s!
