It’s ‘gnome’ walk in the park!

The Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expedition group headed to the Peak District where they walked North to South over hill and vale a distance of approximately 80km. They were completely self-sufficient and carried four days’ worth of kit on their backs. This iconic countryside, although easy under foot, was mainly passing over the Pennine Way and whilst twenty-six pupils started on their adventure, four pupils sadly had to drop out. Nine pupils completed their qualifier expedition successfully.

They all started the adventure with their trustee Gnomes and shared many experiences that will stand them in good stead for later life. Their group leader Major Adam Vintner states: ‘sometimes it is necessary to experience discomfort, to learn what you are capable of achieving’.

Well done to all those who took part and particularly to the nine pupils who completed this Gold Expedition.
