King’s golfers win team competition in national trophy

Our top three golfers, Charlie Cook (Marlowe, 6a), Christy Francis (Linacre, 6a) and Tom Fish (Mitchinson’s, 6a) won the net team competition in the prestigious ISGA HG Trophy last week.

The team travelled up to The Warwickshire Golf Club for the national event which attracts top golfing schools from across England and Scotland.

A practice round the evening before the competition introduced the boys to the unfamiliar course and it paid off the following day.

While Charlie was not at his very best, Christy and Tom both played exceptionally well and their two scores combined (69 and 71 on the par-72 course) were low enough to secure victory over 25 other teams. This is a great achievement and it is the first time that King’s have won a team trophy at an ISGA event.

The three players will be joined this week by Harry Coe (School House, 6a) as they travel to Huntercombe GC to compete in the National Finals of the HMC Foursomes.
