King’s Hosts Kent Prep School Golf Championships

King’s was delighted to host the Kent Prep Schools Invitational Golf Championship last week.

The event has been running for over 50 years and attracted some of the finest golfers from Kent Prep Schools. Overnight rain had softened up the challenging course at Canterbury Golf Club, but the skies cleared and some high-quality golf was played in a foursomes modified stableford format.

Junior King’s School were the holders of the trophy, and Year 8s Erik and Tom successfully defended the title by one point.

Close on their heals were Edward and Matthew from St Ronan’s, with Archie and William from Wellesley House taking third place.

Ned from St Ronan’s won the longest drive competition, splitting the fairway an astonishing 275 yards from the tee, and he also won one of the nearest the pins, with Archie from Wellesley winning the other. All players are to be congratulated on playing some fine golf in a great spirit.

Many of the competitors will be joining King’s in the future, when they will benefit from high-quality coaching, access to the school’s golf simulator, membership at Canterbury GC, and the opportunity to play matches at fantastic courses such as Royal St George’s and Royal Cinque Ports.
