King’s welcomes local schools at Debating Workshop
Students from four of our partner schools attended the East Kent Schools Together Debating Workshop, hosted by the King’s Debating Society on Thursday.
The workshop, aimed at developing critical thinking, teamwork skills and confidence, sought to help the visiting schools set up their own debating societies.
Pupils from Spires Academy, St Anselm’s, St Edmund’s and St Lawrence College heard from our head of debating Mike Cox on the principals of building an argument before judging an example debate by King’s pupils on the use of racial profiling by police to prevent knife crime.
They then mixed and split into groups for debates of their own, with senior King’s pupils offering advice.
It was wonderful to see students of various ages enjoying the workshop and we look forward to the follow-up competition after half term.
