KSC Young Enterprise Group win Kent area competition
Our Young Enterprise Group came first in the final of the Kent competition, meaning they progress to the South East final, and were awarded the prize for the best company report.
Young Enterprise gives students the opportunity to set up their own businesses before being judged against competitors via the assessment of a company report and presentation.
Having raised capital in the Autumn Term by selling stunning calendars which featured watercolour portraits of Canterbury, the group created a range of jewellery out of coins as their main product. The coins were all out of mint, dating from the Victorian period to 1971, and were cleaned with non-toxic ingredients before being turned into jewellery using equipment in the DT department.
A profit of approximately £2,000 was raised from the group’s efforts and more importantly, they say they have developed leadership, confidence and problem-solving skills as a result of the process.
They will now progress to the South East round where they could be put forward for the national competition.
