Linacre boys raise £4.5k for Porchlight

Pupils from Linacre House hosted a fundraising dinner for 77 guests at Birley’s Pavilion on Sunday, collecting £4,500 for local homelessness charity Porchlight.

Every boy in the Boarding house contributed. Shells set up and served, Removes sold raffle tickets and helped organise the shells’ food serving, Fifths were on entertainment and fundraising while the Sixth-Formers prepared and cooked the food.

Teddie Wilmoth, Ed Roberts, Fernando Sharma and Edward Ind (all 6a) spearheaded the event, and our school Catering department assisted the boys.

Linacre House parents also supported, donating generous gifts to the raffle.

Porchlight Dinner

Guests heard from two representatives of Porchlight about the work they do in Canterbury and the wider county, and the boys are now planning a whole-house sleep out on December 7 in Memorial Court to raise further funds.

They aim to raise £50 each as well as donating any sleeping bags provided by their parents.

The dinner can still be supported by donations through its Just Giving page.
