Malthouse set to host GB vs Hungary exhibition fencing match

World Cup and Commonwealth fencing champions will be on show in an exhibition match between Great Britain and Hungary at King’s this Saturday.

The Malthouse Campus, which holds a purpose-built fencing salle with its eight steel pistes, will house the event as some of the top fencers from each country descend on Canterbury.

Among the competitors will be GB’s Paul Sanchez-Lethem, a two-time Commonwealth gold medalist, and Andras Peterdi who was part of Hungary’s 2018 winning World Cup team.

The chief executive of British Fencing Georgina Usher will also be attending to help celebrate 90 years of the sport at King’s.

Before the match begins, there will be a sword-fighting scene from Dumas’ The Three Musketeers featuring the actor Jean-Marc Perret who previously featured in Prince Caspian Voyage of the Dawn Trader as well as a display of swords on loan from the British Fencing Museum.
