OKS artist Edmund de Waal made a CBE

Edmund de Waal (OKS, Marlowe 1977-81) has been awarded a CBE for services to the arts in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

A man of many talents, Edmund is best known for his work in ceramics but has also had a Sunday Times Bestseller as an author.

He opened our state-of-the-art photography and pottery studios in King Street in 2012, acknowledging the fantastic opportunities he had in Canterbury himself and underlining the importance of a well-resourced art department to support our diverse student body. The latter is certainly a statement we agree with.

Congratulations to Edmund.
