OKS receive Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award
Four of our 2019 leavers travelled to St James’s Palace on Monday (February 10) to recieve their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
Below Beatrice Ninham (Carlyon), one of the recipients, reports on the day and the valuable experience she gained from completing the Award.
I, along with Jaime Lain (Linacre), Eva Garrard (Marlowe) and Jack Lisser (Tradescant) had the pleasure of visiting St James’s Palace on Monday to receive our Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
Although not at Buckingham Palace, where others go for the summer prize-giving, it was a day to remember! Meeting Prince Edward in such a stunning building was a surreal experience, making the achievement of completing our Gold Award even more rewarding.
It is the end to a long journey, which at times seemed almost impossible, walking through bogs and wading through rivers in the rough terrain of the Scottish mountains.
However, I am so grateful to have been able to go through with the whole experience, having learnt so much from it all, and could not recommend it enough to anyone else who is up for a challenge.
