King’s pupils enjoyed a fantastic Gold Duke of Edinburgh award day, spending time in the morning walking around the beautiful Buckingham Palace gardens, followed by a ceremony with the Earl of Gloucester and the travel journalist and BBC producer Ash Bhardwaj. The eleven King’s students awarded were Lucy Bryant, Sonya Trukhina, Annie Shepherd-Barron, Freddie Miller, Grace Obee, Emily Crook, Johannes Neudert, Ryan Murray-Nobbs, Velvet Grainger, Rupert Davis and Alexander Austin.
Both the Earl of Gloucester and Ash Bhardwaj made a special effort to talk to all participants and seemed genuinely interested in their achievements. The completion of the Gold Award by the students was praised highly, and advice was given on how to carry out the skills learnt, which will prove helpful in the future. All-in-all, the day was full of excitement and it definitely made the Gold Expedition worth doing!
