Politics pupils hold video interviews with senior NATO officials

Politics students have been conducting video interviews with senior NATO officials, asking them about NATO’s current role and the challenges it faces. The officials include Major General Michele Risi, the commander of KFOR, NATO’s peacekeeping force in Kosovo, and Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Bettina Cadenbach.

Following the interviews, which will be made available online in the coming weeks, the students are set to attend the next semi-annual Modern Deterrence Conference hosted by the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), the defence think tank situated in Whitehall, London (pictured above). The conference will focus on ‘Emerging Power: Involving Youth in National Security’.

The politics department enjoys strong links with RUSI, and this initiative follows a recent online King’s Talk where Mr Moelwyn-Hughes (Head of Politics) interviewed Mr Giedrimas Jelinskas, NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Executive Management, as well as The Big Indaba 3 Global Affairs Conference which the Politics Department hosted at RUSI.
