Rugbylympics – our first try!

Following on from the success of the annual Minilympics event, sixty two girls and boys from five local primary schools came for a day of rugby games and mini-matches and the first ever Rugbylympics. This partnership event between The King’s School and Canterbury Christ Church University was aimed at Year 6 pupils to help with the transition to secondary school next year and was targeted at those who might not have tried rugby before.

The morning’s activities involved a series of games led by Darren Reeves (Rugby coach for King’s and the charity Wooden Spoon) with some activities led by King’s sports staff and CCCU women’s rugby team. There was tremendous support shown, as always, from the CCCU Outreach Ambassadors. The students were treated to a delicious hot lunch, after which they took part in a tournament to put their newfound skills into play.

Our thanks also go to sponsors BidFood and Brighter Homes.
