Shell Enrichment
The Shell year group enjoyed two days of Shell Enrichment after their summer exams. On Monday, they had activities at Birley’s sports fields, including Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting, Combat Archery, a Climbing Wall and Human Table Football. On Tuesday, the Shells has to think about all things space! In the morning they had to think about what materials would be useful in space before designing a parachute that would allow an egg to be dropped from up high without it smashing.
In the afternoon, they were fortunate enough to have a talk from Dr Suzie Imber of BBC Fame. Having worked for NASA and proven her credentials as an incredible scientist on the BBC programme ‘So you want to be an Astronaut’, she spoke about her career as a mountaineer, university chancellor and her current research.
All in all the two days were extremely interesting and the Shells were thoroughly enriched!
