Spires Aspirational Maths Boosters
Once a week a group of pupils from Spires Academy come to The King’s School for Maths Booster sessions. They arrive for lunch and then have a lesson with Dr Sue Kerridge, stretching their maths learning and proving what able and inspirational learners they are.
The pupils look forward to their weekly visits and the challenging but supportive atmosphere in the lessons. They enjoy the opportunity of taking their new found knowledge back to their maths lessons at Spires and sharing their learning. The pupils grow in confidence and are able to tackle problems and concepts that far exceed the levels they would be working at in their particular year. Recently, a group of year 10 pupils were enjoying mastering the Binomial Expansion, even beating teachers to the solutions to problems.
The pupils come for a whole term and are either from mixed year groups or from a single year. They pupils have said they really like meeting King’s pupils over lunch and the amazing food. They have also enjoy the calm atmosphere in the classroom, the small group and the support they receive from all the staff. Most of all they are enjoying some amazing maths.
