The School Rock Concert 2017

The King’s School, Canterbury saw a sound explosion of a different kind last weekend. The School Rock Concert 2017 ignited the Shirley Hall with an array of guitar shreds and drum solos. The event was organised by a pupil committee headed by Sixth Formers, Mikaela (HH) and Fallon (BR) Mondlane, Georgia Parker (CY) and Igor Lenterman (MO) with a few members of staff assisting. Igor explained that ‘it wasn’t easy balancing work and extra-curricular activities with rehearsal times but I am incredibly pleased with the way the Rock Concert came together this year."

The stage was set, the mood was right and the performers were exceptional! The noise produced was an incredible blend of musical excellence and the shock on pupils faces as little Johnny Allen (Shell, TR) played an iconic rift on the guitar followed by his amazing vocals performing "Pyscho" by Muse, captured the essence of the night.

Sylvette were the guest act and sent the crowd bouncing. The band is fronted by King’s very own Charlie Sinclair (OKS 2015) who returned for one night only from the Royal Northern School of Music where he is currently studying rock guitar.

Igor and the pupil committee were incredibly grateful for the help received from staff – "without Mr Parvin, Major Vintner and Mr Thornby, the show would never have happened."

"A big thank you to all the performers and audience members who came together with such amazing energy on the night!"
