Tommy & Harrison raise money for Mind at Kent Duathlon
Tommy David (Meister Omers, Fifth) and Harrison MacKinnon (Mitchinson’s, Fifth) have been back out fundraising with another endurance challenge after they raised £2,000 for the NHS last July.
Having cycled 100km around the Kent coast with six of their classmates in the summer, this time the boys took on the Kent Duathlon at Hole Park in Rolvenden.
The race involved a 10km run followed immediately by a 40km bike ride and another 5km run.
Tommy said: “I decided to raise money for Mind as so many teenagers’ mental health has been affected throughout lockdown and the waiting lists for teenagers to see experts for help is months long. Apparently, Mind—as with many other mental health charities—have been inundated with calls for help.”
In their first-ever duathlon, Tommy and Harrison finished first and second in their age category respectively, supporting a worthy cause in the process.
For his next challenge, Tommy is set to complete a half marathon at the end of this month.
